USING DATA TO ADVANCE GLOBAL LITERACY

Room to Read

A big part of the work we do with Room to Read is genuine storytelling—bringing the children, families and teachers who benefit from their work to life. But an equally important factor in building awareness and transparency for donor support is substantiating success through hard data. Effective nonprofits like Room to Read can only improve their efforts by using monitoring and evaluation to fine-tune their programs. They also share lessons learned with the global education movement. Our job is to get people to read and understand the data. Through design thinking and imaginative illustration, we turn boring Excel sheets into easy-to-understand (and even lovable) data visualizations.

HOW DATA IS HELPING A SCHOOL IN SRI LANKA

We were thrilled to direct, shoot and edit this video about how Room to Read collects and uses data to strengthen their literacy programs in Sri Lanka. Our goal was to illuminate the story of the dedicated individuals doing the work and the children who benefit from the research and monitoring. The result is a video that introduces serious potential funders to Room to Read, giving them deep information about how the organization works and the comfort level they need to invest.
